Faculty Q&A: Michael Raine

Michael is enjoying his tenth year on the dance faculty at CAP21 Conservatory, as well as being an alum of the program. He is in his third year as a member of the faculty for NYU's Graduate Acting Department, where he teaches tap and partner dancing. He spent three years developing the choreography for a musical about Shlomo Carlebach, which saw productions at Lincoln Center Jazz, The Folksbiene Yiddish Theater, Le Petit Theatre in New Orleans, and had a limited off-Broadway run in the spring of 2008. Other choreography credits include the Japanese tour of Rent (opened Tokyo 2006), Starmites: the Milenium Edition (directed by its writer Barry Keating), Jimi and Mr. B (The Egg Theater, Albany 2008, 2009), The Prince of Grand Street (Jewish Rep, NYC) as well as productions of On the Town, Gypsy, The Pajama Game, and ...Charlie Brown. As a performer, Michael toured Europe and the US in West Side Story, Disney's Beauty and the Beast, the Australian tap musical Hot Shoe Shuffle and originated the role of 'Alan' in the off-Broadway musical, I Sing.
