REQUIRED COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
Acting/Scene Study
Focuses on text analysis, sensory work, actions and truthful behavior in the scene. Classical and contemporary plays by the finest playwrights are worked on.

Acting/Improvisation
Develops the actor's instrument and commitment using specific techniques such as listening, thinking on your feet, focus, imagination and partnering. The actor must push beyond their comfort zone and take risks. Improvisational skills provide a creative approach to the rehearsal process.

Vocal Performance
Music and lyrics are approached from the actor's point of view; lyrics are explored as monologues and music is considered an enhancement for dramatic intention. Basic acting elements of time, place and character are applied to the vocal performance.

Vocal Technique
Focuses on the physical production of musical theatre sounds: legit, belt and mix. Technical skills addressed include alignment, release of tension, and the production of sounds most commonly heard in musical theatre.

Music Theory
Develops the students sight reading skills in order to learn music efficiently. The main focus is on sight singing and ear training with written theory introduced as needed to support the goal of being able to sight read unfamiliar material. Advanced musicians may test out of this class. (No substitute class will be provided).

Dance Program
Training every day for 1.5 to 3 hours, concentrating on ballet, jazz/theatre dance and tap.

PRIVATE VOICE (optional)
Students have the option of adding private voice lessons for an additional fee. A private voice instructor can help develop the skills needed for all musical theatre genres. Sign-up for private voice lessons during the first week of the program.

Tuition: $500 for five, 1 hour long sessions (This may not be substituted for any class).
ORIENTATION & PLACEMENT
All Pre-College students must attend Orientation & Placement from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, June 27th. During the course of the day, students will have a Music Theory Placement test, Acting/Vocal Placement and Dance Placement in order to place them in the appropriate dance level.
