DEA Youth Dance Program

DEA Youth Dance Program Concept

The DEA Youth Dance Program, part of DEA Educational Foundation, was established to empower kids by providing a positive alternative to drugs and violence through the fun, healthy and expressive art form, dance.

DEA Youth Dance After School Program

There are hundreds of at-risk kids across the nation who are studying dance for free through the after school program, DEA Youth Dance Program, instead of turning to drugs and/or violence. The most critical time to kids is between the hours of 3pm and 6pm during the week. The DEA Youth Dance after school program focuses on keeping kids drug and violence free through the arts and empowering them through self-expression.

The program consists of a 10 or 20- week program, usually starting in the fall. It meets once a week for an hour after school. Generally, classes take place in they gym, assembly room or classroom setting unless the school has a dance studio available. The students work towards a performance at the end of their instruction series they have the opportunity to perform in front of parents, teachers and peers. We also offer summer scholarships at professional dance studios to keenly interested students.
