CAP21 offers a variety of developmental processes for new work (plays and musicals). The process may include meetings with artistic staff, in house readings, stage readings, and productions, and is tailored to each individual project.
THE WRITERS CO-OP
The Co-op is a two-week space residency for writers. Three times per year, 8-15 writers and/or writing teams are selected and provided with studio space and a piano to work on new material.
ROUNDTABLE READINGS
These are private, in-house table readings of a new musical or play. The readings are followed by a discussion of the piece with the writer(s), CAP21's artistic staff, and the actors.
MONDAY NIGHT READINGS
These stage readings of new work are an opportunity for the writer(s) to see their new musical or play in front of an audience. The readings are followed by an optional talk-back with the audience or a private meeting with CAP21's artistic staff.
PRODUCTIONS
CAP21 produces new work in its state-of-the-art black box theatre year round. Each production enjoys a 3-4 week run.
