Describe your experience with Summer Stock NYC:
It was my second professional experience and I got a glimpse of what working in a professional show was really like. I also greatly enjoyed meeting the CAP21 students. I have made so many new friends that I am sure I will see around at auditions and callbacks – its always nice to have a friend to go to an audition with!
What did you learn from working in a professional theatre setting?
I learned how to treat the people around you, I learned how to take quick direction and make fast changes. I learned how to adapt to new spaces and think on my feet. The only way to learn these things is by DOING! The more experience gained, the better the professional.
What was the most successful aspect or element of your experience?
I truly enjoyed meeting the professional actors and working with them. Their little tricks and secrets to learning things and their tips on how to speak with authority were invaluable to me.
Are there any other comments you can share to provide insight for future participants in Summer Stock NYC?
This experience was invaluable and completely draining and exhausting. I took a crash course in the life of a working actor… and I didn't have to pay any money for the lessons I learned! That is the most valuable aspect of working for summer stock!
