Describe your experience with Summer Stock NYC:
Summer Stock NYC was a great experience for me because I was able to work with actresses who have been in the "business" for a long time as well as work in a professional theater environment. I was able to learn greatly from both aspects. I was also able to work with both directors and choreographers from CAP21 and Pace University which showed me that there is not one way of directing a scene and one way to be taught.
What did you learn from working in a professional theatre setting?
I learned that no matter if you are the youngest or the oldest in the cast you are still treated the same and expected to act professional. As an actor I noticed it is very important to be flexible especially when the stage changes. The choreography can be changed and even spacing and it is important to quickly adapt to it.
What was the most successful aspect or element of your experience?
I was able to meet really great people and was able to share my love of performing on the stage with my abundance of energy. I never really learned Fosse, so it was such a great opportunity to be taught by Tony Stevens himself.
Are there any other comments you can share to provide insight for future participants in Summer Stock NYC?
Summer Stock NYC is only a 3 week long process but it is work and dedication. Since there is only 3 weeks you would have to learn the steps and lyrics quickly. But if you really let yourself be guided you would experience so much in just a short amount of time. I am so great full that I had the opportunity to be a part of Summer Stock NYC.
