Describe your experience with Summer Stock NYC:
Working with Summer Stock NYC gave me a taste of what working in NYC is like. It opened my eyes to the many possibilities that can and will happen in my career. Whenever I would have a question there would be someone on the production staff ready and willing to share an accurate answer. Working with colleagues my own age taught me that the best productions are made through collaboration and understanding.
What did you learn from working in a professional theatre setting?
I learned the importance of learning things fast. Whether it was picking up choreography or memorizing harmonizes, each bit of the process needs to be rehearsed and given attention. Working in a professional environment also demanded a certain conduct which not only helped me feel more professional, but also more mature and respected.
What was the most successful aspect or element of your experience?
I believe working with the production staff helped me to see how professional relationships should be developed and established. Learning a combination and then having a conversation with a choreographer isn't something you get to do every day.
Are there any other comments you can share to provide insight for future participants in Summer Stock NYC?
It's a wonderful opportunity to work in a professional theatrical environment that is not always available to someone training. The experience was invaluable and I would recommend it to anyone interested in making a life in the theatre.
