  Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years teaching experience required.
• Must be willing to work within a collaborative training program.
• You will not be contacted until an opening is available.
• Do not call to request an interview.
• No electronic submissions
• Teachers with performing experience should also include a performance resume.
• Minimum educational background needed for employment is a Bachelors Degree or comparable training program.    Advanced degrees or significant performing experience in musical theater are highly desirable.
• Cover letter should discuss which course(s) you are suited to teach.

   
  Courses Offered within the CAP21 programs and skill requirements for each course:
 
Vocal Performance and Audition Technique
  knowledge of musical theatre repertoire, stylistic periods, vocal requirements of repertoire, classroom management skills, and ability to teach the technique of acting through song in a group setting
   
Coaching:
  piano skills, transposition skills, knowledge of musical theatre repertoire, stylistic periods, and vocal requirements of repertoire.
   
Acting:
  knowledge of acting technique and applicable material, stylistic periods, classroom management skills, and ability to teach the technique of acting in a group setting.
   
Musical Scene Study:
  knowledge of acting technique and applicable musical theatre scenes/material, stylistic periods, classroom management skills, and ability to teach the technique of acting in a group setting through the use of musical scenes.
   
Vocal Technique (class voice):
  classroom management skills, ability to teach the technique of musical theatre singing in a group setting, basic piano skills, and knowledge of sequential learning through songs.
   
Private Voice Teacher:
  knowledge of the mechanics of the singing voice, repertoire suitable to musical theater training (for all voice types), ability to teach legit, mix, and belt, sufficient piano skills to accompany students during lessons, and a desire to work within a collaborative training program.  Ability to demonstrate is a plus.
   
Voice Class (speaking voice): 
  extensive knowledge of Linklater technique, knowledge of speech, and classroom management skills.
   
Speech Class
  extensive knowledge of IPA, transcription, and application of voice sounds to text.
   
Dialects:
  extensive knowledge of IPA, dialects (Southern, British, Cockney, Standard American, New York, etc.)
   
Dance:
  teaching experience required, performing experience a plus, knowledge of physical requirements for Musical Theatre performers.  Dance types include: ballet, tap, jazz, theatre dance, modern, hip hop, and song and dance.
   
Music Theory
  working knowledge of musical theatre repertoire, willing to work with solfege and numbers, classroom management skills, piano skills, and understanding of sight reading skills needed for musical theatre performers.
   
Accompanist:
  ability to transpose at sight, familiar with stylistic requirements of musical theatre repertoire from traditional to pop/rock musicals, and willing to work with the classroom instructor
